Ketoconazole

Indications/Uses

Infection of skin, hair & nails by dermatophytes. Prevention of fungal infection in patients w/ organ transplant or burn.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Vag candidosis 1 tab bid or 2 tab once daily for 5 days. Other fungal infection 1 tab daily until ≥1 wk after symptoms have disappeared. Childn 3 mg/kg/day.

Administration

Should be taken with food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Acute liver pathology.

Special Precautions

Pregnancy, lactation.

Adverse Reactions

Nausea; rashes, pruritus. Photophobia, headache, dizziness, thrombocytopenia.
